MAUREEN GALLAGHER, PhD

Licensed Psychologist and Somatic Experiencing Faculty Member, Inner Relationship Focusing Trainer

I am a Licensed Psychologist (NY, NJ), Somatic Experiencing Faculty Member, and Inner Relationship Focusing Trainer.  My work and teaching are dedicated to the embodiment of psychotherapy.  I do this by integrating an approach informed by somatic awareness and somatic intervention along with adult attachment work and a relational focus.  I bring a broad range of experience and training to this endeavor, including Certifications as a Relational Psychoanalyst and Supervisor, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist and Supervisor, Inner Relationship Focusing Trainer, Integral Somatic Psychology training, SE Touch skills training and Certification as a Biodynamic Cranial Sacral Therapist.  My clinical work integrates relational psychoanalysis and experiential and process oriented models of attachment theory with somatic psychotherapies.  I have maintained a private practice for over 20 years.

Philosophy

As psychotherapists, we work with clients to aid them to develop better relationships with their entire being–including their bodies and their conscious minds,  as well as helping them become more aware of what they know implicitly.  Developing this relationship requires us to work in the resonance, using information from our own being to better understand the person we are working with.  In my Embodying Psychotherapy workshops and consultation groups, I aid therapists to develop skills in working with attachment related adaptive strategies using relational and somatically oriented techniques, as well as supporting the growth and enhancement of therapist’s ability to sense and work in the resonant field.
